Determining the challenging innovations for paper and board industry Bumaga BV cooperates with the paper and board supply chain partners but often takes its own initiative.

Besides the commercial services and participation in EU projects, the company initiates and carries out chain projects directed to development, demonstration and market introduction.

• M&T Compression Refining - Project on the machinery for refining of papermaking pulp that realizes a 40% lower energy consumption, 30% lower steam consumption and an increased lifetime of a recycled fiber compared to traditional refiner technology.

• Durest - Generation of waste is a common issue in paper recycling within paper industry, therefore Bumaga BV developed and run the project on utilization of the rest streams from paper and board industry.

• Briljant - focuses on the latter by reducing the amount of water put into the paper during procurement of the paper with sizing, laminating or coating. The main focus is on sizing and laminating.

• Alternative materials for recovered paper baling - this project is about the substitution of metal wires for recovered paper baling with more sustainable alternatives. The goal is to improve the sustainability of recovered paper processing in paper industry, in terms of better competitiveness, reduced amount of accidents at work and improvement of environmental performance.
