MITA
MiTA
Multiple
Applicable Traversing Analyser
MiTA analyser is already successfully applied in 3 paper mills for solving different problems. MiTA consists of a Traversing unit and a data-processing unit that can be combined with various types of sensors. The MiTA measures directly the profile of the paper web and can on-line be exchanged over several positions in the machine direction of the paper machine.
Some examples of these positions are:
- Near the head box on the forming table to control mass profile / formation
- Around (before, halfway and after) the press section to control the crucial dewatering in the press section and to direct vacuum and steam boxes applied before and on the press section
- Application before and after the size press or coating stations to control the efficiency
- Characterisation of the status and conditioning of all press felts by consecutive application at the various felts
- Control of the glue application at cover papers for solid board
- Etc.
Actually the MiTA is applied in combination with NIR, Microwave and LASER based sensors, however combinations with other types of sensors are also possible.
Three very successful cases, potentially available for presentation, are documented with lots of clear pictures and graphics which really work as eye-openers for paper manufacturers. In my opinion this development has never been shown before. The MiTA provides the key to solutions for very common problems. During 2004 at least another 6 applications of MiTA at various positions and for different types of paper and board products are expected to be realised.
